The weather in the Boka Kotorska (Kotor and Tivat bay) is something of a microclimate – to say the least. All of that water and those steep mountain slopes can produce some tricky weather conditions, though mainly outside of the summer season. Living on a sailing boat here in Montenegro for the last 11 years has given us plenty of first-hand experience of dealing with all that this microclimate can throw at us and we’ve seen some incredible skies. Even on the most dramatic of days, the moody weather makes for utter beauty.
It is very difficult for weather models to forecast correctly for this area, particular the larger scale models that are used in everyone’s Weather Apps, which can be annoying very wrong. It is only with local knowledge and experience (coupled with various forecasts) that an accurate picture for the day can be created. It is one of my passions and for 2019 I have decided to publish a daily forecast – so watch this space!
